If
you're visiting this site for the first time, you're no doubt interested
in both flyfishing and Christian fellowship. However, a tour of my pages would
expose the fact that I haven't devoted the energy to it that I intended.
You'll see old content and many undeveloped areas. There are two reasons
for this neglect. The first is that for me, like many who have ambitions to
combine passion for Christ with a passion for an area of recreation - flyfishing
for example - responsibilities and the general busy-ness of life have
interfered. But the primary reason is that I've discovered an established,
thriving
organization dedicated to the very combination of ministry and fellowship
that I hoped to achieve through the Fellowship of Christian Flyfishers.
Christian Sportsmen's Fellowshiphas been around for thirrteen years and
embodies everything an outdoors-based, Christ-centered ministry should.
With an emphasis on missions and evangelism founder Richard Jordan has
followed the Holy Spirit's leadership in promoting the development of a
network of local CSF chapters in churches across the country. I've
been a member for eighteen months and recently have volunteered my time to
serve as its Regional Director for the state of Texas. The breadth of the
organization is exciting, with activities in all aspects of hunting,
fishing, and sport shooting.
I've
been fortunate to write for the organization's quarterly publication,
The
Christian Sportsman, where most of my articles relate to
flyfishing. Through my friendship with Richard, I've come to
see my opportunity for service as being within the framework of the
Christian Sportsmen's Fellowship.
And so I
am using this space to encourage you to discover and support CSF. Click on
the logo below to access their website and find spiritual adventure in the context
of outdoors adventure, or as the CSF slogan puts it, "Taking Adventure to
a Higher Level."
If you
wish to explore this site anyhow, click
"here." You may also visit my other website
www.rodjohnson.org to read more about me, contact me about my
availability for speaking engagements, or to purchase a copy of my book of
devotionals, Loving the Outdoors... and the God Who Created It. But to find what I believe to be the finest Christian
outdoors organization anywhere, visit CSF.
If you
would like to contact me personally you may do so by typing the following
in standard email address format.
Type
"rod" then a dot -then "johnson." Follow that with the "at" sign and
finish with "rodjohnson," then another dot followed by the domain
extension "org." I apologize for the lack of a direct link or a
straightforward address, but web crawlers search for links and then use
and abuse email addresses with spam. Doing this way often defeats the
crawlers and minimizes my spam.
